2007 Strategies
Corangamite Soil Health Strategy
The Corangamite Soil Health Strategy was launched on 29 November 2007. The Strategy aims to guide investment in a range of actions that will protect and enhance natural and built assets in the Corangamite Region from a number of soil based threatening processes. A number of partners will be involved throughout implementation. Targets have been developed to monitor the effectiveness of Strategy implementation.
Current soil based projects being implemented under the Corangamite Soil Health Strategy include:
- Training courses and manuals delivered to farmers, local governments, water authorities and infrastructure managers in targeted areas to improve their ability to manage priority threats (eg. erosion, secondary salinity, acid sulphate soils and landslides) appropriately to reduce impacts caused to high valued assets.
- Working with stakeholders to implement on-ground works aimed at ameliorating active erosion and landslide sites, which are causing impacts to priority regional assets.
- Investigating the 'Implications of climate change on the Corangamite Soil Health Strategy'.
- Working with local government to develop appropriate tools and policy to address erosion and landslides risk through their municipal planning schemes.

Corangamite Salinity Action Plan
The Corangamite Salinity Action Plan is the second generation salinity management program for the Corangamite CMA region. The context for the development of the plan has been the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality, the Victorian Salinity Management Framework and the Corangamite Regional Catchment Strategy 2003–2008. This document is supported by nine background reports which detail the information used to develop the plan and document the logic and assumptions applied.[Download 7MB]

Corangamite Native Vegetation Plan
The Corangamite Native Vegetation Plan aims to strategically direct future action in the protection, enhancement and restoration of the region’s native vegetation. Developed with extensive community input, the Plan reflects the values that the community places on native vegetation as a key asset and part of a long term, sustainable landscape. The Plan has been guided by the statewide policy that outlines a consistent approach to management of native vegetation as found in ‘Victoria’s Native Vegetation Management – A Framework for Action’. Corangamite Native Vegetation Plan – spreadsheet of updated Bioregional Conservation Status of EVCs
The Department of Sustainability and Environment is preparing to release a package of revised native vegetation datasets which will provide a more consistent and updated view of native vegetation in Victoria. The datasets include new Ecological Vegetation Class (EVC) mapping which has resulted in the need to revise the bioregional conservation status information within the Corangamite Native Vegetation Plan (CNVP).
As the CNVP acts as a reference document under the State Native Vegetation Framework, it has been necessary for the Corangamite CMA to update the bioregional conservation status information in the CNVP. These revisions to the CNVP will come into effect as of 1 February 2008. Updated information relating to the Corangamite region’s revised bioregional conservation status can be downloaded here.[Download 100k]
